Bobby Flay — I am your body double!

• I am Bobby Flay once again: It’s official, Iron Chef America called me last week to be a body double for Bobby Flay.  Added bonus: a video clip of Iron Chef with me in it. [Sahara Hotnights - Nerves]
• The story of how I got to be a Faux Flay: It included me responding to an ad with the following email:

  • "I have been told I am a spitting image of Bobby Flay. I didn’t even know who he was until someone said I should go cook something for them.

    That said, I have no experience acting, but I have been behind the camera for several years. I thought I might have a random shot at this. I am 6 ft, 170 lbs. I am in shape (ran a marathon a month ago)…I realize this is a long shot, but I am very professional and if it’s worth anything, a fun guy to have on the set.

    I, of course, happen to think I’m better looking than Mr. Flay, but I hope that doesn’t compromise my chances of being picked. Also, I recently produced a promotional video for the NY Restaurant Association — it was the New York State Prostart culinary competition for high school kids. So I am not afraid of getting up close and personal with knives or raging flames and the like…"

• I’m a better double than the rest: People actually mistook me for Flay.  The other doubles didn’t have the same resemblance I had.  I feel special. [Sahara Hotnights - Hangin]

I was in a half-marathon on Sunday with some Hopkins friends.  I came in with a mediocre time (2:06) so I have a lot more training to do before the NY Marathon in November.

• Grand Prix Half Marathon: Sunday, August 28, at 7am, we ran 13.1 miles.  Official results are here. [Rob Thomas - Something to Be]
• On Running: Prior to these races I always feel like I’m about to take an exam in high school, and everyone is anxious and reciting facts I don’t know and I feel like I didn’t prepare enough.  Intense runners who don’t run so fast.  Power Gel — agh.  And please, for the love of all that is good: guys, don’t wear spandex when you jog in front of me.  Leave that to the women. Plus, some photos of me finishing the New Orleans Marathon back in February — in the Superdome, which appears to still be intact.  [Crystal Method - PHD]

Got back from Cape Cod a few days ago and I’ve decided to try cooking some fish dishes.  Anyhow, I got a tan, and lots to blog about.  So for all 3 of you actually watching this stuff, enjoy!

• 04:00 - Iraq: I talked to a guy who just got back from Iraq after serving in the army for 6 months there.  He says the Iraqis are happy we’re there.
• 05:00 - Reading the classics: I’m reading some books I was supposed to read 10 years ago.  Just finished Frankenstein.
